西南交通大學希望學院于2009年經國家教育部批準,由首批進入“雙一流”建設的百年名校西南交通大學和華西希望集團高標準、高起點創辦,是以軌道交通為特色的一所全日制工科類普通本科高等院校,是四川省首批應用型轉型改革試點院校、首批三全育人改革試點院校。學校設有成都校區和南充校區,主體成都校區坐落于金堂縣大學城。
學校堅持社會主義辦學方向,全面貫徹黨的教育方針,弘揚“明德勵志、務實創新、竢實揚華、自強不息”的校訓精神,堅定“軌道交通”的辦學特色,堅持“立足四川、服務西部、面向全國、走向國際”的辦學定位,強化“以人為本,以學生為中心,把每個學生培養成才”的辦學宗旨,實施“質量立校、人才強校、特色興校、創新驅動、協同發展”的辦學方略,努力培育以“寬基礎、多口徑、強能力、高素質”為特征的“現場工程師”應用型人才,致力建設“國內外知名、學科優勢突出、行業特色鮮明、社會高度認可”的全國一流應用技術型大學。
學校按照強化內涵、彰顯特色要求,設有軌道交通學院、土木工程學院、商學院、繼續教育學院、國際教育學院、馬克思主義學院、外語系、學前教育系、護理系、基礎部、體育部等教學單位,開辦了覆蓋工學、管理學、文學、理學等學科門類的本專科專業近50個,面向全國22個省市招收優質生源,現有在校學生近28000人。持續匯聚品德高尚、治學嚴謹、造詣精深的學科帶頭人,多途徑引培高素質“雙師雙能型”人才,現有專任教師1250余人,其中研究生學歷占比80%以上。建成學校數智化實訓中心、“理實一體化”實驗實訓平臺100余個,與企業合作建設校外實訓基地200余個,其中軌道交通“理實一體化實訓中心”獲批四川省實驗教學示范中心、“測量實訓基地”獲批省級大學生校外實踐教育基地建設項目。圖書館面積3.3余萬平方米,擁有紙質圖書130余萬冊、電子圖書200萬冊。
學校依托西南交通大學強大的師資優勢以及母體學校國家級、省級特色專業和實驗教學示范中心,將所辦專業打造為軌道交通核心專業群、支撐專業群、延伸專業群,已獲批省級一流、示范專業建設點17個,實現省部級重點專業全覆蓋。其中交通運輸、土木工程等5個專業獲批四川省一流本科專業建設點,工程管理、機械設計制造及其自動化、計算機科學與技術等6個專業獲批省級應用型示范建設專業,工程造價、會計學等4個專業獲批四川省民辦高校重點特色專業質量提升計劃建設項目,物流工程、財務管理等2個專業獲批四川省民辦高校特色(骨干)專業建設項目。獲批省級“課程思政”示范教學團隊項目2個和省一流課程、示范課程等35門。在校友會大學工學門類專業排名中,鐵道工程專業位列西南地區應用型鐵道工程專業第一,連續兩年被評為 A++。建筑電氣與智能化、交通運輸、工程造價等多個專業躋身“軟科中國大學專業排名”排行榜。
學校強化科研競賽的引領作用,“十四五”以來,立項省部級、市廳級科研課題479項,立項教育部高校學生司供需對接就業育人項目18項,立項教育部產學合作協同育人項目15項,立項省級高等教育人才培養質量和教學改革項目4項,立項國家級大學生創新創業訓練計劃項目159項,立項省級大學生創新創業訓練項目559項;發表論文1041篇,其中中文核心及以上期刊113篇;出版教材或專著43部;授權專利117件;學生參加各類學科競賽獲獎2572項,其中有國家級及以上獎374項、省級獎1186項。學校在“2022中國民辦本科院校科研競爭力實力評價排名”中位列《基于增值評價的中國民辦本科院校科研競爭力排名》第八名,在校友會2024年獨立學院排行榜中名列第32位。
學校牢記“為誰培養人、培養什么人、怎樣培養人”這個根本問題,深化教育教學改革創新,構建德智體美勞并舉的育人體系,強化“就業—招生—培養”聯動工作機制,加強與企業、院校、政府部門的戰略性合作,推動校企地合作“全方位”“全過程”融合,通過訂單培養、“3+1”“2+1”等模式,深度與成都地鐵、成都現代有軌電車、成都鐵路局、中鐵八局、中鐵建大橋局、京東商貿等企業合作交流,實現學生畢業與就業無縫對接。已累計輸送5萬余名高素質應用型人才,就業率和就業質量穩居同類院校前列,受到學生、家長和社會的廣泛認可。作為四川省應用型本科高校聯盟副理事長單位,學校積極推進資源共享、人才共育,獲得良好反響。
學校積極推進國際交流合作,與馬來西亞英迪國際大學、泰國西那瓦國際大學、白俄羅斯創業與管理學院、布列斯特國立技術大學、維捷布斯克國立大學、戈梅利國立大學、布列斯特國立大學、波洛茨克國立大學簽訂合作協議,發揮“國際課程周”品牌效應,實施“希望視界”教師提升計劃,建設國際科研能力培養平臺,培養具有國際視野的創新人才。學校于2021年被高校畢業生就業協會授予首批“海外實習就業基地學校”稱號。

Approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Southwest Jiaotong University Hope College was founded in 2009 with exacting standards and a high starting point, through a collaboration between the century-old prestigious Southwest Jiaotong University, an early participant in the “Double First-Class” Initiative, and the Huaxi Hope Group. The college is a full-time undergraduate engineering institution that specializes in rail transportation, distinguishing itself as one of the pioneering institutions for applied transformation and reform in Sichuan Province, as well as among the first batch of pilot colleges for the reform of “ Sanquan Education Theory: cultivating students in the three dimensions of full participation, whole process and all-round interaction.” The college boasts campuses in Chengdu and Nanchong, with its primary Chengdu campus situated in the Jintang County College Town.
Adhering to the socialist direction of education and implementing the Party’s educational policy, Southwest Jiaotong University Hope College carries forward the spirit of “moral integrity and aspiration, pragmatic innovation, persistence and excellence, and self-improvement”. It upholds its education characteristic in “rail transportation” and positions itself as “based in Sichuan, serving the western regions, facing the whole country, and going global”. It has strengthened the educational tenet of “putting people first, focusing on students, and cultivating every student to become talented,” and has implemented the educational strategy of “establishing the college with quality, strengthening the college with talents, developing the college with characteristics, driving innovation, and promoting coordinated development.” We strive to cultivate applied talents with the characteristics of “broad foundation, multi-disciplinary, strong capabilities, and high quality” as “on-site engineers”. And We are committed to building a national first-class college of applied technology with “domestic and international reputation, outstanding disciplinary advantages, distinctive industrial characteristics and high social recognition”.
The college has established teaching units including the School of Rail Transportation, School of Civil Engineering, School of Business, School of Continuing Education, School of International Education, School of Marxism, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Nursing, Basic Course Department and Sports Department, in accordance with the requirements of strengthening connotation and highlighting characteristics. It offers nearly 50 undergraduate and specialty programs covering disciplines such as engineering, management, liberal arts, and natural sciences. The college recruits high-quality students from 22 provinces and cities across the country, with a current enrollment of nearly 28,000 students. The college continuously attracts scholars who are morally upright, academically rigorous, and possess profound knowledge as discipline leaders. Multiple pathways are utilized to introduce and cultivate high-quality “dual-qualified” talents. Currently, there are over 1,250 full-time teachers at the college, of which over 80% are entitled with master’s degree. Over 100 Intelligent training centers and integrated experimental training platforms featured by integration of theory and practice have been established. Additionally, over 200 off-campus training bases have been built in collaboration with enterprises. Among them, the “Theoretical and Practical Integration Training Center” in School of Railway Transportation has been approved as the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Sichuan Province, and the “Measurement Training Base” has been approved as the Provincial University Students’ Off-campus Practical Education Base Construction Project. Besides, its library covers more than 33,000 square meters with more than 1.3 million paper books and 2 million e-books.
Based on the advantageous faculty and educational resources of Southwest Jiaotong University, including her distinctive specialties at national and provincial levels and experimental teaching demonstration centers, our majors have been organized into core discipline clusters focusing on rail transportation, supporting discipline clusters, and extended discipline clusters. We have been approved 17 first-class and demonstration specialty construction points at the provincial level, achieving comprehensive coverage of provincial and ministerial-level key majors. Notably, five majors such as Railway Transportation, Civil Engineering have been approved as first-class undergraduate major construction sites in Sichuan Province. Six majors such as Engineering Management, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Computer Science and Technology have been approved as provincial application-oriented demonstration construction majors. Additionally, four majors such as Engineering Costing and Accounting have been approved as key specialty quality improvement projects of Sichuan private colleges. Two majors, namely Logistics Engineering and Financial Management, have been identified as characteristically professional construction projects of private colleges in Sichuan Province. Our college has also been approved by two demonstration teaching groups of provincial “Ideological and Political Teaching in All Courses”, as well as 35 provincial-level first-class courses and application-oriented demonstration courses. According to an engineering major ranking compiled by Alumni Association University, our railway engineering major heads the list among applied railway engineering majors in Southwest China, and has received A++ rating for two consecutive years. Furthermore, majors such as Building Electricity and Intelligence, Transportation, and Engineering Cost are listed in the “ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Best Chinese University Majors Ranking”.
Hope College has strengthened its leading role in scientific researches and competitions. Since the 14th-Five-Year Plan, 479 scientific research projects at provincial and ministerial level and municipal level, 18 projects of supply and demand docking employment education projects of the Department of College Students of the Ministry of Education, 15 collaborative education projects of industry-university cooperation of the Ministry of Education, 4 projects of provincial higher education talent training quality and teaching reform projects have been initiated. What’s more, there are 159 national innovation and entrepreneurship training programs and 559 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students; 1041 papers have been published, including 113 in Chinese core journals and journals of higher level; 43 textbooks and monographs have been published; 117 patents have been authorized. Furthermore, we have received 2572 awards from students participating in various disciplinary competitions, of which 374 awards are at the national and above awards, and 1186 awards are at the provincial level. In the “2022 China Private Undergraduate Colleges Research Competitiveness Evaluation Ranking”, our college ranked the eighth in the “China Private Undergraduate Colleges Research Competitiveness Ranking based on Value-added Evaluation” and 32nd in the Alumni Association’s 2024 Independent College Ranking.
With “who and how to train, and to what end” as the core, the college has deepened the reform and innovation of education and teaching, built an all-encompassing education system, strengthened the “employment-enrollment-cultivation” linkage mechanism, advanced the strategic cooperation with enterprises, colleges and universities, and government departments, and developed the “comprehensive and whole-process” school-enterprise integration and cooperation. Through order-oriented training, “3+1”, “2+1” modes, we have deeply cooperated and exchanged with Chengdu Metro Co., LTD., Chengdu Modern Tram Co., LTD., Chengdu Railway Bureau, China Railway No.8 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC8), Bridge Engineering Bureau of China Railway Construction Group, JD.com. Inc etc., realizing a seamless docking between the graduation and employment of students. More than 50,000 high-quality applied talents have been delivered, and the employment rate and quality steadily rank among the top of similar institutions, which are widely recognized by students, parents and the society. As the vice-chairman of the Applied Universities Alliance in Sichuan Province, we actively promote resource sharing and talent co-cultivation, and all has achieved good response.
We vigorously promote international exchanges and cooperation and have signed cooperation agreements with INTI International University Malaysia, Shinawatra University Thailand, Belarusian Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Belarusian National Technical University, Vitebsk State University, Gomel State University, Brest State University, Poltava National Technical University. International courses are fully offered and utilized. Simultaneously, the “Hope Horizon” faculty improvement program has been put into operation, and the platform for developing international scientific research capabilities has been established to train creative talent with a worldwide perspective . In 2021, we were awarded the first batch of “Base School of Overseas Internship and Employment” by the Association for College Graduates Employment.
In the future, Southwest Jiaotong University Hope College will focus on the construction of a strong education country and the construction of the “three zones and one highland” of education in the province. With placing students as the center, education as the foundation, and quality improvement as the core, the college will implement the “five major projects” of party building demonstration and creation, moral and political education, transformation, comprehensive reform of education and teaching, and school guarantee improvement. It will optimize the characteristics of rail transit, strengthen the digital transformation. In the end, we’ll create a new, energetic system with advantages to train applied talents in the digital age, cultivate talents for the Party and the nation, and support the regional and national economies and societies.
